Analytical modeling of mine water rebound: Three case studies in closed hard-coal mines in Germany

Purpose.In this paper we present and validate an analytical model of water inflow rising level in a flooded mine examine the robustness sensitivity to variations input data considering examples three closed hard-coal mines Germany. Methods. Findings. The modeling demonstrated very good agreement with measured all studied mines. maximum relative deviation during measurement period did not exceed 2.1%; rate before its flooding 0.8%. Sensitivity analysis revealed higher significance working conductivity case thick overburden growing infiltration area size lower thickness. Originality.The developed allows realistic prediction transient layered heterogeneity rocks, irregular form drained area, inflow/outflow neighboring voids distributed parameter without gridding domain performed numerical models. Practical implications.The study advantages tool preliminary evaluation indicators parameters mined out disturbed rocks. In uncertain data, can be considered attractive alternative usually applied methods flow.
